New Product Development

In addition to providing PC Upgrades, service and parts for older PHI (Ulvac) systems and components, RBD Instruments will also be developing some innovative new products for the surface science industry.

As with all of our previous upgrade products for older PHI systems and components, the new products that we develop will be tools that will be the best value in terms of performance and price. We will focus on small niche areas where the needs are not being met by the other the surface analysis instrumentation companies. We have several new products in the development phase and will keep you posted of their progress via the News section in this website as well as our newsletter, The Service Detail.

Currently Under Development:

CAA - Compact Auger Analyzer

CAA - Compact Auger AnalyzerFormally known simply as the TFA (Thin Film Analyzer), RBD's Compact Auger Analyzer has a built-in 3 kV electron gun, fits on a 2.75" flange tube, and is especially suited for in-situ analysis of materials in deposition systems. It is also ideally suited for low cost surface analysis experiments.

Product development and engineering for the CAA has been completed, and the first production prototypes are now being built. We'll be posting updates as soon as information is available.
